AgriLAC brings together global and regional experts in sustainability and agribusiness in Latin America and the Caribbean
Recently, IDB Invest held a virtual event called “AgriLAC: Sustainable Agroindustries Supply Chains in Latin America and the Caribbean”. It was attended by the most recognized leaders in sustainability and agribusiness, including agribusiness companies, regional operators, agricultural technology companies, government officials, local producers and representatives of civil society.
The event consisted of a forum to share best practices on how to integrate sustainable solutions between large companies and small producers and how to help access global value chains in a sustainable way.
Latin America and the Caribbean is the world’s largest food exporter and is at the centre of global food supply. Agriculture and supply chains employ 24% of the region’s workforce.
Keynote speakers were given by Pepsico’s CEO for Latin America, Paula Santilli, and Rabobank’s Regional Director for South America and Managing Director for Brazil, Mark Wiessing. Key panelists included experts from consumer industries such as Mars, Grupo Britt, Pepsico and Marfrig Global Foods; leading food producers such as Naturasol and Aldea Global; technology companies such as Produce Pay, Extensio and AgroSmart; and international NGOs such as WWF, WRI, BSR and The Nature Conservancy.
