First Electric Bus” programme launched in Uruguay

As part of the Subite initiative for the acquisition of electric vehicles, the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining of Uruguay (MIEM), through the National Energy Directorate (DNE) launched the “First Electric Bus” programme. The aim is to incorporate electric transport for use in tourist circuits and urban public transport in each department of the country. In addition, the replacement of combustion vehicles with electric buses will be evaluated.
The programme includes the creation of a fund for the purchase of minibuses, minibuses and electric buses. The call for departmental governments to present their initiatives will be open until 11 March 2022.
