Urca Energia to invest in a green CO2 plant in Brazil
The Brazilian group Urca Energia announced the construction of a green carbon dioxide production plant at the Seropedica Waste Treatment Centre (Rio de Janeiro). The investment in construction and equipment acquisition for the new green plant is approximately 8.5 million dollars.
It will be the first plant of its kind in Brazil and will use methane gas generated from organic waste from landfills and transform it into green CO2. The plant is expected to start operating in 18 months and is estimated to generate around 100 tonnes of green CO2 per day, which represents approximately 10% of Brazil’s daily consumption. The product is used in the food and beverage industry (in liquid gasification processes and food freezing); in metallurgy (in the heat treatment of welds); and in the sanitation sector (for effluent treatment).
