ENGIE Energía builds Peru’s largest wind farm with IDB Invest support

ENGIE Energía Perú S.A. obtained a US$300 million loan from IDB Invest to finance the construction of the 296.4MW Punta Lomitas wind farm, including its expansion and transmission lines.

The financing consists of a loan package fully underwritten by IDB Invest, including US$100 million mobilized by the Dutch business development bank FMO, and US$55 million mobilized by BNP Paribas.

The project will contribute to diversifying Peru’s power generation matrix, currently dominated by hydroelectric and thermal generation. Punta Lomitas will supply approximately 1.7 Gigawatt hours per year of clean energy and reduce the country’s carbon footprint by displacing greenhouse gas emissions.
