BNDES and KfW sign a donation agreement to contribute to the Amazon Fund
The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) of Brazil and the German bank KfW signed donation contracts for up to 35 million euros, with the aim of formalizing KfW’s support for the Amazon Fund. This Fund is a financing instrument created in 2009 to receive voluntary donations for non-reimbursable application in actions to prevent, monitor and combat deforestation, conservation and sustainable use of the legal Amazon. The Fund pipeline includes 102 projects.
Germany, through KfW, is the second largest donor of resources to the Amazon Fund, having previously donated 54.9 million euros. This is the third donation from the German bank, which will totalize about 90 million euros in support to the Fund, which will allow the BNDES to further advance the climate and combat deforestation agendas, in line with the strategic objectives and guidelines that guide the BNDES’ action.
