BNDES supports Sustainable Forest Management projects in the interior of the Amazon
The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) of Brazil will support the development of eligible forestry bioeconomy projects in five municipalities with a low socioeconomic index in the Amazon: Apuí, Itapiranga, São Sebastião do Uatumã, Lábrea and Carauari.
The initiative will support community management of native forests in the value chains of wood, vegetable oils and Brazilian nut, strengthening Inatú Amazônia, a collective brand of sustainable local products. The projects (all together) will receive resources in local currency for an amount equivalent to up to one million dollars, financed in equal parts between BNDES and other partners. The implementation will be led by the Institute for the Conservation and Sustainable Development of the Amazon (Idesam).
