BRK announces the first issuance of blue debt of the private sector in Brazil

BRK Ambiental Região Metropolitana de Maceió S.A, one of the largest private sanitation companies in Brazil, has completed the first issuance of blue bonds in Brazil from the private sector for an amount in local currency equivalent to about 365 million dollars, with a term of 20 years.

The proceeds will allow the universalization of sanitation services that will benefit more than 1.5 million people who live in the capital city of Maceió and 12 other surrounding cities (northeast of Brazil). These sanitation services had been granted to BRK on the first auction structured by the BNDES and carried out after the approval of the Sanitation Regulatory Framework, in year 2020.

The issuance, oversubscribed by 1.6x, included the banks Bradesco, ItaúBBA, Santander, UBS/Banco do Brasil, Safra and XP, as part of the syndicate led by BTG Pactual.
