CBI Report: Colombia Sustainable Finance State of the Market 2022

The Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI) together with Metrix Finanzas and LAGreen Fund, published the report “Colombia Sustainable Finance State of the Market 2022” which aims to promote continuous growth in the sustainable finance market in the country.

The report outlines the shape and size of the Colombian green, social, sustainable and sustainability-linked (GSS+) debt market and provides an overview of policy support developments and milestones over the past decade. It also identifies sustainable investment opportunities in Colombia in accordance with the country’s Green Taxonomy, and the potential of green and thematic instruments to attract investment.

Finally, it presents a series of recommendations for sustainable market growth, including: i)  establishing green securitization / aggregation facilities; ii) scaling up sovereign issuance; iii) dedicated green bond segment on Stock Exchange; iv) encouraging national development banks to increase blended financing; v) offering green guarantees; vi) proving green finance subsidies; and vii) expanding the Green Taxonomy in order to increase the pool of potential issuers.
