CMPC issues green and sustainability-linked bond to in international markets

CMPC, a Chilean company dedicated to the production and sale of wood, cellulose, paper, tissue and other related products, has successfully issued an international green and sustainability-linked bond for 500 million dollars and a 10-year term. The proceeds will be used to finance or refinance so-called green projects. The bond’s performance will be linked with compliance with the goal of 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions committed by CMPC by year 2030.
The bond achieved a coupon rate of 6.125%, equivalent to 240 basis points over the US Treasury equivalent rate. BNP Paribas, Bank of America, HSBC, JP Morgan, MUFG, Santander and Scotiabank jointly acted as underwriters in the placement.
