CNV promotes guidelines for the issuance of thematic bonds in Argentina
The National Securities Commission (CNV) proposed updating the “Guidelines for the issuance of social, green and sustainable marketable securities in Argentina”, in order to introduce new labels to identify those marketable securities that are intended to finance projects with environmental or social impact, or the improvement of the environmental, social or governance metrics of the issuers, called “bonds linked to sustainability”.
The term “SVS+” is incorporated to refer to social, green, sustainable, linked to sustainability and any other specific thematic label securities.
The proposed “Guidelines for the Issuance of Thematic Securities in Argentina” were prepared considering the experiences of some countries in the region, in line with internationally recognized standards, such as those elaborated by the International Capital Markets Association (ICMA) and the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI).
Through General Resolution No. 952, since the end of March 2023, the CNV has called for public consultation on its proposal to update the guidelines, in order to receive opinions and feedback.
