Elea Digital from Brazil issues the first sustainability-linked bond by a data center firm in Latin America

Elea Digital, a data center firm that operates seven data centers totaling around 10MW across Brazil, completed the issuance of a Sustainability-Linked Bond (SLB) for an amount in local currency equivalent to 38.1 million dollars, becoming the first company of its sector to achieve this type of issuance in the Latin American region.

The proceeds will be used towards reducing water usage in Elea operations and help it reach ambitious efficiency targets, by investing in more advanced and sustainable cooling process equipment. Elea reports that its current water consumption equates to 0.51 liters per KW/h of consumed energy. By 2026 and 2028, the company wants to reduce its Water Usage Efficiency (WUE) to 0.31 liters and 0.2 liters per KW/h, respectively.
