The municipality of Godoy Cruz in the province of Mendoza, Argentina, has approved an edict that will allow it to issue green bonds to finance solar energy projects with the aim of addressing climate change.
In a first stage, financing will be sought for the expansion of the Godoy Cruz Solar Park located in the west of the department of Gran Mendoza. It is also expected that part of the resources will finance social housing initiatives, providing clean energy kits that includes a solar water heater and photovoltaic panels.
Godoy Cruz centrally manages its climate policies through its Local Climate Action Plan “Godoy Cruz Carbon Neutral 2030”, which includes climate change mitigation and adaptation measures.
